BFF's Sister an Inappropriate Companion?

My 11-year-old daughter’s best friend has a 15-year-old sister who likes to swear and seems to talk about nothing but boys. My daughter’s friend is very sweet, but I’m concerned that her sister may be a bad influence on my daughter. Suggestions or advice, anyone?

BFF's Sister

I have tried to have the girls at our house as much as possible but the invitations for sleepovers etc. just keep coming and my daughter would much rather go there than stay home. The older girl isn’t interested in actually hanging out with the younger ones, but she is around, and of course they think she’s pretty cool…which is why I worry. I don’t know the parents well and I’m pretty non-confrontational most of time, but you’re probably right that I need to just get tough on this. Thanks.

I think I would try to limit my daughter’s visits to that home and have the little girl over to my home. Is the 15 year old around the younger girls when they are playing at the friends’ home? If so, I would probably put a stop to the visits at that home. Seems harsh but your daughter just doesn’t need to listen to that kind of language and talk. If the parent asks you why your daughter can’t visit, I would be up front and just let them know the older daughters’ language is not appropriate for your daughter.
