Official Rules

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Entries will be judged on creativity, content, and execution. Every entry MUST have the following information: name, daughter’s name, daughter’s age, e-mail address, telephone number, state, and note of being a subscriber (or not) of Discovery Girls. Entries must answer the following questions about the mother-daughter relationship: Why is your relationship special? What do you do that’s different and extra-special to keep your relationship close and loving? Entrants must choose between submitting an Essay/Photo entry and a Video Entry. Essay/Photo entries must consist of two essays, one written by the mother and one written by the daughter. Each essay must not exceed 250 words. In addition, Essay/Photo entries must include one or more photos of the mother and daughter. Video Entries must consist of a video of no more than three minutes’ duration, during which both the mother and daughter must speak. All entries must be submitted through DiscoverYourDaughter.com. All entries must be received by March 1, 2010. Winner will be notified by March 30, 2010. All entries and rights to winning entries become the exclusive property of Discovery Girls, Inc. and will not be acknowledged or returned. Discovery Girls, Inc. shall not be liable for (a) telephone, electronic, program, network, Internet, or computer delays, deletions, interruptions or other failures of any kind; (b) late, lost, damaged, failed, misdirected, incomplete, garbled, unintelligible, or delayed computer messages; or (c) any human error that may occur in the processing of any entry, nor are they responsible for any theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries, whether caused by the sender or any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in this Contest.

ELIGIBILITY: Contest is open to legal residents of the 50 states of the United States, the District of Columbia, and Canada, except as prohibited by law. Employees of Discovery Girls, Inc., and their affiliates, and employees of companies that have provided prizes, and the families of each are not eligible to enter. Void where prohibited. All federal, state, and local laws apply.

One entry per mother-and-daughter pair. By entering, entrants agree to abide by these rules, warrant and represent that their entry is their original work and does not infringe upon the rights of any third party, and grant to Discovery Girls, Inc. the right to edit, publish, promote, and otherwise use their entries without further notice or compensation.

One winning pair will be chosen and will receive two roundtrip airline tickets to New York City. The prize package includes roundtrip coach-class air transportation between gateway airport nearest to winner’s home and New York, hotel accommodations for one night standard hotel lodging based on double occupancy in New York, a photo shoot, and mother-daughter photo on the back cover of Discovery Girls magazine. Prize awarded is for the winner and her daughter. All other costs and expenses are the sole responsibility of winner. All travel must take place between April 22, 2010 and April 24, 2010, except in the event flight availability requires earlier departure and/or later return date(s). Winner must be available for travel and photo shoot during specified dates. In the event that winner is unavailable during these dates, a new winner will be chosen.

The winning pair and semifinalists will be featured in Discovery Girls magazine, on DiscoverYourDaughter.com, and on DiscoveryGirls.com.

Winner will be notified by e-mail or telephone using the contact information provided.

GENERAL CONDITIONS: If the administration or integrity of the Contest is compromised or corrupted at any time, Discovery Girls, Inc. reserves the right to modify, suspend or cancel the Contest. Discovery Girls, Inc. and their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, distributors and agencies shall not be liable for any injury or damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from entering the Contest. Entrants agree that the decisions of Discovery Girls, Inc. concerning all matters related to this Contest shall be final and binding. By entering the Contest, entrants agree to abide by these rules and to release and hold harmless Discovery Girls, Inc., its respective affiliates, subsidiaries, distributors, and agencies from any and all liability for injuries or damages of any kind sustained in connection with participation in this contest and/or use of the prize. By entering the Contest, entrants affirm that they have read and accepted these Official Rules. Any person attempting to defraud or in any way tamper with this Contest will be ineligible for the prize.
